Julie guides the Foundation’s strategy, grant-making and community partnerships.
A former public high school teacher, Julie approaches foundation work with a deep respect for great educators and leaders. Julie’s interest in philanthropy stems from a conviction that it is vital to support great educators who have a vision and track record of creating the schools that our children need and deserve, especially in our most economically disadvantaged communities. Over the past decade, her work has focused on developing teacher and leadership talent, creating excellent public schools that help kids beat the odds, and building advocacy for the conditions our educators need to ensure our young people thrive. Today, Julie remains inspired by the stories – and promise – of her own students and the many young people of West Contra Costa.
Julie holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Northwestern University, and a teaching credential from Saint Mary’s College.
