RICHMOND — Continuing a tradition of community grantmaking on Giving Tuesday, the Chamberlin Family Foundation will award $208,500 to a broad range of non-profit organizations that serve youth across West Contra Costa.

This year’s Community Giving Initiative (CGI) will provide 33 local, youth-serving organizations with grants of up to $15,000 each.

“These organizations serve our community’s most precious assets: our children,” said Dr. Stefanie Phillips, Chief Executive Officer at the Chamberlin Family Foundation.

“Through their programming, our children are able to embark on journeys of self-discovery through music, leadership, the arts, history, culture, and STEM programs,” Phillips said.

Launched in 2018, CGI grants support eligible non-profits whose work engages youth, but may not be directly tied to public education equity, CFF’s primary focus in West Contra Costa.

In past years, the foundation fielded community nominations to identify eligible organizations. This year, the foundation streamlined a renewal process for organizations that applied for 2019 CGI grants, provided that they plan to continue their service to West Contra Costa youth in 2021.

“We’re thrilled to continue our support for these outstanding community organizations, particularly during these difficult economic times,” Phillips said.
