Empowering the Local Community

It’s vital that our community is knowledgeable and involved with our schools. The Chamberlin Family Foundation supports groups that bridge the gap between our leaders, and the educators, students and parents they are asked to serve. The Foundation seeks to help bring the community together to raise expectations for excellent schools for our students.

We currently invest in a number of groups in West Contra Costa, including:

YES Nature to Neighborhoods is building an informed community where all people are empowered to make decisions about education, health, and local policy.

Through year-round leadership development and summer camps, YES supports West Contra Costa students to motivate change in their neighborhoods.

GO Public Schools West Contra Costa connects parents, students and educators with the resources they need to drive change. The organization’s core focus is to help the community see what is and isn’t working, and support informed advocacy for quality education.

Bright Futures is a pre-K and after-school program for students in West Contra Costa. They know family engagement is critical to a child’s success, and equip parents with tools to advocate for education at the individual and district levels.

Students for Education Reform brings together college students who are recent West Contra Costa graduates to advocate for positive change in public schools.

Through SFER, young people have an opportunity to raise their voice and talk about why change is so needed.

California Charter Schools Association empowers parents to advocate for education policy with the best interests of all public school students in mind.

CCSA also supports charter public schools that work, and drives accountability for excellence in the charter school sector.
